Chelmsford Local Plan – Have Your Say

The final version of Chelmsford City Council’s new Local Plan – called the Pre-Submission – was open for consultation from 31 January to 14 March 2018.

The Local Plan identifies the number and locations for houses, jobs and businesses and local facilities to support growth to 2036, and beyond. It also includes planning policies which will be used to determine planning applications.

Does the Pre-Submission Local Plan consultation document identify new development around Broomfield Parish?

The consultation document proposes allocating land north Broomfield (part of which is in the Little Waltham Parish) for around 450 new homes and supporting infrastructure including a neighbourhood centre and early years/childcare nursery. This is called Strategic Growth Site 6 in the consultation document. An additional access to Broomfield Hospital and Farleigh Hospice is identified as an infrastructure requirement, along with new pedestrian and cycle connections, and recreation and community space.
